LO1: Duncan Phillpott, Photographers and their work

Duncan Philpott

This image was taken in the Peak District.
Duncan Philpott is in a duo called Steel City Media based in Sheffield, his passion for photography began at a young age and his hobby became a career when he moved to Sheffield t study mathematics.
His work began as minor images used for local companies which soon grew to commercial companies world wide.

Wide angle of this shot makes them look like they're important because the way the image curves makes the background look like the world and the fact that they are in the centre in the image makes them look like the only people in the world. Their importance is shown by the fact that they are sat on an expensive car and the use of cash flying around implies their wealth.

LO!: About Bulb Photography And Local Photographers

Bulb Photography.

Bulb photography is a shutter speed setting on an adjustable camera that allows for long exposure times under the direct control of the photographer. With this setting, the shutter simply stays open as long as the shutter release button remains depressed. An alternative setting common on film cameras is Time, abbreviated T, where the button is pressed once to open the shutter and again to close it.

Chris Saunders Photography.

Chris Saunders is a local portrait photographer, he has took many different portraits of different people, including bands such as Arctic Monkeys.

Chris Saunders has taken photos around the world and not just in Sheffield, for example, this picture was taken of a 10 year old african boy. The picture connotes an indie style look inspired by Sheffield and this is very effective because of the colours that clash and the pose of the model, it is also focused on the portrait with a blurred background.

This photo is a group portrait, the models are famous people from Sheffield, Jarvis Cocker, Alex Turner and Richard Hawley. The light at the top of the photo is effective and brings life to the black and white photo.

Mark Harvey.

Mark Harvey is a local  landscape photographer form Sheffield, he takes pictures of lots of different scenery.

This photo was taken with a wide angle lens. The colours of the sky and the silhouette of the bridge and the people look really effective and brings the whole photo together.

This is a landscape photograph by Mark Harvey, it looks like it was taken in the country side round spring because the grass is really green and stand out.

Duncan Phillpott

Duncan Phillpott takes a variety of different pictures he takes portraits and motion photos.

This photo is a portrait photo and you can see it was taken on a sunny day, the motor bike in the reflection of the sunglasses is in the center of the picture so catches attention of the viewer.

The colourful strobe effect pulls the whole photo together, and connotes the motion of the motorcyclist in the centre of the image.

LO1: using Wide Angle Lens

This was taken with a wide angle lens and makes it look like the married couple in the middle are more important even though the world is bigger. They are also central to make them stand out, the world looks big because of the wide angle shot which makes it curve out and look bigger.

a wide angle lens was used for this photo which has made a slight curve on the background, i then used the curves tool to brighten it and then changed it to sepia.

I used a wide angle lens and i then edited the photo on photoshop using curves to brighten the photo then used a posterise tool to give it a cartoon effect, i also used the spot healing brush and the dodge tool for whitening.

LO1: photographers and their work

KTA 2.

Dimitis Theocharis.

Some photography done by Dimitis Theocharis.

Dimitis Theocharis is a  portrait photographer from California, he has took many pictures around the world. His style is quite kooky and unique, the models he uses are all very attractive models but he doesn't take pictures to capture the beauty of any of the models, he takes the pictures with a different style, like in the bottom photo he had taken a picture of three female models, but he had added blocks of colour on their faces to make it look more original and to catch the eye. A variety of his photography shows a sense of a homosexual nature as he captures people of the same sex showing their emotions to each other, this is another one of his styles that is different from other photographers, because of this his photography his noticed well by viewers.
This picture below defiantly catches attention, if you look closely you can see that the two people embracing each other is actually the same person, this could show that he's keeping his homosexuality to himself. This is another one of his techniques  you need to look deep into his photography to realise the meaning of his pictures.

Another one of his themes is colour, in this photo below he has used red as his theme, he uses this colour as almost as if it is the mood of the person, this can be used with all colours, in this photo red could mean seduce, but it can also mean angry or loud because its very distinctive. the colour is carried out through out the photo with the nails and the lips and the bright background.

More photography with colour themes by Dimitis Theocharis.

LO1: Primary source photoshopped Pictures Aswell as portraits leading lines.

BEFORE.

                                                                        AFTER.

(zoom in of eyes)

The primary source picture i photoshopped has been made brighter using the curves tool on photoshop, i have used +57 on vibrance to make the colours stand out more, i have used the dodge tool to whiten the eyes, i then used a hue tool to alter the eye colour, i also airbrushed the skin and used a burn tool to give a natural tan.

                                            BEFORE.

                                             AFTER.
In this primary source photo i photoshopped i used a curves tool to make the buildings appear darker, then i used the threshold 128 to give it a stamped effect.

This is a primary source portrait photo I have taken, I have edited it using photoshop by using the curves tool to brighten the photo and darken specific areas. I have also used the dodge tool to whiten the background to make the model in the centre stand out more. I then used the crop tool to make the picture more central.

I have taken this photo and then edited it on photoshop, I made the portrait seem more smoother, I also used exposure the bring out more detail, I made the background more vibrant and used the dodge tool to make the model seem more pale.

This one of my portrait pictures I have taken and edited, I like the effect how the black and white have contrasted with the colour. I have used exposure to brighten, and reversed black and white on the doll and the mask.

This is one of my leading lines photograph, the line down the middle leads to the bottom of a town in Sheffield. it shows the average weather of Sheffield and I have edited it on photoshop so there is a vignette boarder.

                                                Before.
After.
This is another one of my leading lines photograph, I edited it on photoshop using patriotic colours to represent the queen in the centre of the image, I also used a sharpen and a sketch tool and added a vignette boarder.

Before.
After.

I took this photo of a radiator, the leading line leads right to the bottom of the room, before i edited this picture the image looked boring and plain, so i used photoshop to add bright colours and hue to make it stand out, i also used a vignette boarder.

Before.
After.
This is a leading lines photo i took. It is the pattern on the back of a chair, i edited the picture on photoshop to add a colourful effect and make the photo seem less boring.

Before.

After.
This is a leading lines photo that i have taken, i have edited it on photoshop to create a colour scheme of black, white and red which i think work effectively. The red of the shoe is the main feature of the photograph and really stands out, this brings life into the image. On photoshop i have used a black and white tool and then made the shoe red.
