LO3/4: Primary source photos.

24th November, Devenshire Green shoot- skate park, on bmx, autumn leaves scenery, street art.

                                                        Cruising dev green.
This photo is an un edited photo which i have taken. The graffiti in the background represents Creative, I took it with a Nikon DSLR which represents Digital, the fact it is in Devenshire Green represents Sheffield. This is a a portrait in motion and you can see that the person is accelerating on the BMX as the person and the bike is in focus.

                                                                 Original.
                                            Ramp BMX.
Edited.
This photo is edited, i changed the saturation of the graffiti in order to make it brighter and stand out more, i also used the curves tool to make the contrast higher. Since the photo was taken in Devenshire Green this represents Sheffield, it is creative because of the graffiti, it is digital because i took it witha Nikon and i edited it on photoshop.

Original.
Look out.

                                                                          Edited.
In this picture i made the model black and white to draw attention, and i thought if i bleached the colour out of the model then the only colours would be focused on the graffiti. I then put another picture i took at Devenshire Green and but it inside one of the graffiti outline and then changed the opacity to 66% so it looks slightly faded. This photo is Creative because of the street art and it is Digital because i took it with a nikon and then edited it on photoshop.

                                                                 Original.
                                  Stand tall.

                                                                       Edited.
I cut round the model and used the threshold tool to change the effect of the buildings. i also used the curves tool to brighten the graffiti, i also used the dodge tool to brighten the white on the graffiti. This is creative because of the graffiti, it is Digital because i took it with a Nikon and edited it on photoshop, i took it on Devenshire green which represents Sheffield.

                                                   Chilling like a villan.

i kept this photo un edited because i feel like it didn't need much editing. The Graffiti and the autumn leaves add colour and bring life to the photo. This photo describes what the majority of people are like in Sheffield with the BMX and the creative street art. As well as creative it is also digital because i took it with my Nikon DSLR, I took it on Devenshire Green which shows it is is Sheffield.

                                                                Original.
                                 #Sheffield

                                                                    Edited.
I used photoshop a lot on this photo, i used the curves tool to brighten, i then used the clone tool to remove the background, then i used the warp tool to put a picture i took of the peace gardens on the instagram picture so it fits, i then cropped the picture so the phone fills up more of the photo. I really liked this photo because it almost looks like an advert for instagram to draw people in from Sheffield. This photo is creative because the idea and the editing was creative and it is digital because the model is on a digital device, It represents sheffield because the picture was taken in Sheffield including the one on the phone.

                                                                   Original.
                                      Eyes.

                                                                          Edited.
i used photoshop on this photo to edit the background out with the magic wand and to feather the outside of the portrait, i then used the dodge tool to brighten the phone, the shine was took off the phone using the stamp clone tool, i used the curves tool to brighten and contrast the model, the spot healing brush was used to slightly airbrush the skin, the burn tool was used to put a deeper colour in her hair, i then used a black and gold gradient for the background and then feathered some more black gradient up through the bottom of the photo. This photo was taken on a white wall in Mosborough which is located in sheffield, i think it is creative with the editing and the general idea is also creative and digital, the phone in the picture represents digital swell as the fact i used photoshop.

                                                                     Original.
                               figures in fountains.

                                                                   Edited.
All i did on this photo was crop it and used the curves tool to brighten the lights, i then made everything black and white apart from the sunset glow that was shining through the windows. I think this photo is really effective with the colours and the way the fountains look like female figures. This photo was taken in the peace gardens which represents sheffield, the idea is generally creative and i used a nikon camera and photoshop so therefore the whole thing in general represents creative digital Sheffield.

                                                           Original.
                       Winter wonder Sheffield.

                               Edited.
I took this photo near the cheese grater but when i looked at the photo you couldn't really see it so i used the curves tool to brighten it, i also made the contrast high, i then used the black and white tool to make everything seem dull apart from the lights. The fact i took this in Sheffield represents Sheffield, i think the idea and the editing shows both creative and digital, i also used a nikon camera and photoshop which is also digital. I think this photo is very unique with its wintery scene and the lights shining thorough, the tree almost seems to have a cartoon 3D effect which i really like.

                                                           Original.
                              Bright lights.

                                  Edited.
When i took this photo i liked the simplicity of it but i thought there was too much colour going on so i made it black and white, i also used the dodge tool to brighten the lights, i then used the curves tool to higher both brightness and contrast in the fountain to show the ripples in the water. This was taken in the peace gardens which represents sheffield, i used a nikon camera and photoshop which is digital, i think the way it was taken and the way everything is set out in the photo shows a strong sign of creativity. I think the overall photo has elegance and an almost calming look to it, which makes it stand out from me others.

LO2 KTA 1- Creative And Digital Sheffield.

I would like to take pictures of the Graffiti and street art around sheffield as a background, i wanted to use portrait photography in my photography so i can use photoshop to include both photos into one. I intend to bring across the title Creative Digital Sheffield in my photography.

Instead of just using Street art as my background i could also alternate places around Sheffield,
for example:

Peace Gardens.
Winter Gardens.
Fountains.
Hallam University.
Sheffield University.
UTC technical College.
Park Hill flats.
Cheesegrater.
Millenium Galleries.
The silver balls.
Train station.
Cathedral.
Crucible.

Moodboards.

LO1: Duncan Phillpott, Photographers and their work

Duncan Philpott

This image was taken in the Peak District.
Duncan Philpott is in a duo called Steel City Media based in Sheffield, his passion for photography began at a young age and his hobby became a career when he moved to Sheffield t study mathematics.
His work began as minor images used for local companies which soon grew to commercial companies world wide.

Wide angle of this shot makes them look like they're important because the way the image curves makes the background look like the world and the fact that they are in the centre in the image makes them look like the only people in the world. Their importance is shown by the fact that they are sat on an expensive car and the use of cash flying around implies their wealth.

LO!: About Bulb Photography And Local Photographers

Bulb Photography.

Bulb photography is a shutter speed setting on an adjustable camera that allows for long exposure times under the direct control of the photographer. With this setting, the shutter simply stays open as long as the shutter release button remains depressed. An alternative setting common on film cameras is Time, abbreviated T, where the button is pressed once to open the shutter and again to close it.

Chris Saunders Photography.

Chris Saunders is a local portrait photographer, he has took many different portraits of different people, including bands such as Arctic Monkeys.

Chris Saunders has taken photos around the world and not just in Sheffield, for example, this picture was taken of a 10 year old african boy. The picture connotes an indie style look inspired by Sheffield and this is very effective because of the colours that clash and the pose of the model, it is also focused on the portrait with a blurred background.

This photo is a group portrait, the models are famous people from Sheffield, Jarvis Cocker, Alex Turner and Richard Hawley. The light at the top of the photo is effective and brings life to the black and white photo.

Mark Harvey.

Mark Harvey is a local  landscape photographer form Sheffield, he takes pictures of lots of different scenery.

This photo was taken with a wide angle lens. The colours of the sky and the silhouette of the bridge and the people look really effective and brings the whole photo together.

This is a landscape photograph by Mark Harvey, it looks like it was taken in the country side round spring because the grass is really green and stand out.

Duncan Phillpott

Duncan Phillpott takes a variety of different pictures he takes portraits and motion photos.

This photo is a portrait photo and you can see it was taken on a sunny day, the motor bike in the reflection of the sunglasses is in the center of the picture so catches attention of the viewer.

The colourful strobe effect pulls the whole photo together, and connotes the motion of the motorcyclist in the centre of the image.
